Why Saint Laurent Menswear SS24 is a perfect collection
Saint Laurent menswear ss24 released yesterday and the entire collection has me amazed. The vision was beautifully realised and well received by the audience. There are numerous similarities between this line and their fall’23 Rtw collection, which makes it even more captivating. The harmony and balance of feminine and masculine silhouettes make the pieces visually appealing.
The use of broad shoulder pad in their blazers, the knotted silk blouses, the use of pinstripes and the heeled boot is completely in tune with the brand and one feature balances the other- the dainty blouses paired up with the wide angled masculine blazers. The use of similar colours and fabrics is also seen all across.
Apart from that, the inclusion of polka dots (which are coming back in trend) in a subtle and aesthetic way keeps the collection modern and fresh without being distracting.
Anthony’s vision of Saint Laurent being not for a man or woman but for people is very well portrayed. His love for androgynous clothing takes me back to the roots of the brand. Yves designed the trouser suit for women called ‘Le Smoking’ in 1966 which is still a classic. According to Yves “A woman wearing a suit was anything but masculine.”
To uphold a vision for a brand so well is time and time proved by Vaccarello, making his work the signature Saint Laurent aesthetic.
